3ICE comes to town

Why the 3ICE World Cup is one to watch this summer

When you hear “World Cup”, football is probably the first thing that comes to mind.

But this summer, it’s not just football getting the global spotlight - ice hockey is stepping up too, and Belfast is right at the heart of it.

The brand-new 3ICE World Cup is landing at the SSE Arena, bringing fast-paced, international ice hockey right to the heart of the city. It’s the first time this global tournament has ever taken place - and Belfast is the host. Not bad, eh?

On Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July 2026, eight international teams will go head-to-head at the SSE Arena, home of the Belfast Giants.

Teams from Great Britain, USA, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, Germany and Austria will compete for a brand-new world title.

It’s a proper global moment for Northern Ireland. One that will bring fans from across Europe and North America and put Belfast firmly on the international sporting map once again.

What is 3ICE?

If you’ve never watched 3ICE before, it’s fast, intense and made for excitement.

The format is three-on-three hockey, played over two short periods with continuous play - we’re talking edge-of-your-seat action, fast-paced speed and lots of goals!

It’s all about focusing on skill, creativity and attacking play.

So even if you’re not a lifelong hockey fan, this is one you can jump straight into.

A home advantage (with a twist)

For local fans - and anyone with a connection to Northern Ireland - there’s another reason to tune in.

3ICE Great Britain will be led by Belfast Giants Head Coach Adam Keefe, with players drawn from across the Elite Ice Hockey League.

It’s a proper mix of homegrown talent and international experience and a rare chance to see local players take on some of the best in the world, right here at home.

More than just the matches

Alongside the games, there’ll be fan activities and community events, creating a proper festival feel in and around the arena. Find out what's happening..3ice.com
