The Harrison Chambers of Distinction

One of Belfast’s most unique places to stay.

The Harrison Chambers of Distinction isn’t your average hotel. It is a beautifully restored collection of landmark Victorian merchants’ residences dating back to 1879, reimagined for the culturally curious traveller. Opening its doors in 2020, the property has quickly become one of Belfast’s most distinctive and memorable places to stay.

With 30 individually designed rooms, no two stays are the same. Each room has its own story and personality, thoughtfully curated using furniture, artwork and objects collected over many years by founder Melanie Harrison. The result is a hotel that feels both deeply personal and unmistakably Belfast.

Many of the rooms celebrate iconic figures connected to the city’s cultural and industrial heritage, including C.S. Lewis, Oscar Wilde, Van Morrison, Samuel Beckett, Sir John Lavery, Valentine Rennie, Lilian Bland and Thomas Andrews - bringing Belfast’s stories to life in a truly unique way.

After living abroad for many years, Melanie made the decision to return home, inspired by a city that was thriving, confident and full of opportunity. The Harrison Chambers of Distinction is a powerful example of what’s possible when global experience meets local ambition.

It’s also a reminder that now is a fantastic time to move back to Northern Ireland to start a business - with growing opportunities, a vibrant cultural scene, and, of course, plenty of great craic along the way!
