Killeavy Castle Estate: A Family Legacy Reimagined

From Australia back to South Armagh, Mick Boyle’s homecoming brought new life to Killeavy Castle Estate, turning a local landmark into a place for people to connect and celebrate.

When Mick Boyle and his wife Robin purchased Killeavy Castle Estate in 2013, it was more than a business venture - it was a homecoming. Mick’s family roots run deep in South Armagh, and despite living in Sydney, Australia, the pull of Killeavy never faded. “I thought it would be nice to have a little piece of South Armagh that I would own,” Mick recalls.

By 2019, the once-neglected estate had been transformed into a world-class hospitality venue. Just two years later, Killeavy Castle Estate earned the title of Best Hotel in Northern Ireland (2021). The restoration was a true family affair, with Mick’s children playing key roles - from engineering and design to marketing and estate management.

Powered by Local Talent

Every detail of the estate’s revival reflects the craftsmanship of the local community with virtually every tradesperson coming from the Newry, South Armagh, South Down area. From bespoke furniture to intricate finishings, the project showcased the incredible talent of the region while creating jobs and opportunities.

A Place to Celebrate

Today, Killeavy Castle Estate is more than a hotel - it’s a destination for weddings, events, and unforgettable experiences. Visitors from around the world come to celebrate life’s milestones and discover the beauty of South Armagh.
