When Tom Hughes, CEO of GembaDocs, left Northern Ireland in 1989, he couldn’t wait to move away. Pursuing higher education in Birmingham, Tom settled in England for 14 years, traveling extensively and building his career. Returning home wasn’t even on his radar, until they had children!

"We had a big family network back in Northern Ireland, and it felt like our kids were missing out," Tom recalls. So, they sold their house in England, kick-started an adventure with a year of study in Dublin, and then returned to Northern Ireland—a move that turned out to be a stroke of genius.

Today, Tom celebrates the depth of connection and beauty that Northern Ireland uniquely offers. Having travelled to over fifty countries and done business in many of them, Tom believes the people and community in Northern Ireland are truly exceptional. "People genuinely care about each other here," he says.
