Velocheese | A Taste of Italy
Davide Tani, founder of Velocheese, is originally from Cagliari in Sardinia, Italy and has been based in Belfast with his Northern Irish born wife since 2015. An electrical engineer by trade, a keen cyclist and food lover, his idea to start VeloCheese started because he was missing his home food, especially fresh cheeses.
He studied cheesemaking under a Master Cheesemaker in Puglia, the home of cows milk Mozzarella, with the aim of bringing a taste of his homeland to Northern Ireland.
He also brings his twin passions of engineering and cycling to Velocheese with the aim of becoming a carbon neutral and zero plastic business.
All mozzarella is imported in Northern Ireland but the quality of milk here is excellent. With these resources I noticed people were starting to seek quality food; I thought it was an exciting idea to start to make cheese and share my experience.
